Lately, I've been attempting a new recipe once or twice a week. In making my grocery list and figuring out what to eat for the last part of March, I ran across a recipe for Chicken Alfredo from scratch. The recipe seemed quite easy and looked wonderful, so I decided to attempt it. This is what it was supposed to look like:
Before I continue, let me explain my cooking a little bit more. I'm not a great cook. I can follow a recipe very well and wing a few southern things, such as country gravy, but cooking in general is not a talent for me. It is one of my least favorite "chores." I cook because I love to eat and don't want to spend a fortune doing it.
That being said, I believed this recipe to be easy and straightforward, not requiring a lot of skill. As I was making the sauce, I realized that it wasn't looking like the picture. I kept on going anyway. When I was finished, this is what mine looked like:
Obviously, not like the picture!! I didn't put the parsley on the top because I already knew that I had messed it up. I don't know what I did wrong, but it did not taste very well. Thankfully, I have a wonderful, understanding husband that appreciates effort. He politely tasted it, asked if I was going to try to eat it, then waited very quietly for my reply. I think it made him happy to hear that I was not going to try to eat this. (He did say that if I was going to try to eat it, he would as well. He's so sweet.)
So, that recipe is being put away and never tried again. It looked so good, though, that I think I'll have to try to find a recipe to make another attempt with the Alfredo sauce. Because we still needed to eat, Brandon and I decided on something we knew we couldn't go wrong with! We were very satisfied with this:

This made me laugh! I have had a few of those flopped attempts. I usually preface a new recipe with this question to Ben, "Are you feeling adventurous tonight?" Pizza is always a good back up
