I've posted before about how Sophie wakes up happy (which you can read
here), but there's something else about her waking up that makes me smile. Lately, especially since we haven't been swaddling her at night, she's always in a different place in her crib! She can't crawl, roll from back to tummy, or really do much more than lie there when she's on her back, but somehow she is able to turn and move. Here's a few examples from the past week:
 |
| March 10, 2011 - the right side is the front of the crib |
 |
| March 13, 2011 - right side is the front |
 |
| March 14, 2011 - the bottom is the front (She's even still covered up exactly the way I laid her down!) |
These are just a few examples of the many positions she's in every morning. In the third picture above, she turned herself completely around. We lay her down with her feet going to the left in the picture.
I walk into her room every morning wondering, "Which way is she going to be facing today?" I realized that I really need to put the bumpers on her bed, despite the warnings against using them.
She still moves quite a bit, but at least now she won't bonk her head against the slats on the sides! Here's how that's working out so far:

| March 17, 2011 - right side of the pic is the front |
By the way, Brandon realized while playing with her in the floor a few days ago that she can lift her little booty up with her feet and then push, which is how she's turning. I'm assuming that she does this, then pushes off the sides to get into these positions. It did puzzle me quite a bit before we realized this! Just for fun, here's how we found her one day a few months ago. It was our first giggle from her crib positions.

O yes Ian is the same way, he scoots and wiggles and turns all over the place in his crib. I laid him on the floor the other day while i was putting laundry away and I looked down and he had done a complete 180 lol. Its only the beginning just wait till she starts crawling. :)
